Job Description
The Medical Director is a Senior Leadership position within the FQHC enterprise. This position is responsible for the coordination, management and supervision of all medical/provider personnel within the FQHC enterprise.
The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that care is delivered within the standards for each medical discipline and appropriately aligned with our federally approved scope of practice. The Medical Director has a multifaceted role that includes responsibilities and duties in clinical, managerial, educational and research.
Responsibilities:
Clinical
Within the scope of the Medical Director role, maintain a balanced clinical practice.
Review developmental and medical history of patient; explain and obtain medical history from patient, parents, guardians or responsible adults to prepare profile on patients for presentation at diagnostic staffing.
Review medical and laboratory data for presentation at diagnostic staffing; participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendation; if indicated along with relevant member(s) of the team; discuss findings and recommendations with patient, agencies, etc.
Responsible for medication management when indicated.
Supervise medical residents and other health professionals as appropriate; may include consulting to school/work/residential settings.
Managerial/Administrative
Either directly or through delegates, responsible for the management, supervision and evaluation of all medical/provider personnel within the health center. Ensure that providers deliver high quality care and service within the standard of care for given discipline.
Develop and monitor performance and quality matrix to ensure the performance standards are met. Coach and counsel staff to ensure continuous performance improvement.
Provide oversight for the recruitment, retention, and training of all provider personnel. Ensure staff compliance with the Federal Health Center Program, Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, regulations and requirements (“Section 330”).
Provide oversight and management of quality and risk management program ensuring compliance with state, federal regulations and regulatory guidelines.
Assist in the development of grant proposals. Periodically review grant deliverables to ensure that activities tasked to clinical staff are being achieved. Review or facilitate the collection of clinical data required for grant reported as requested. Participate in the preparation of grant reports.
Research and Innovation
Facilitate and actively participate in the Research Council
Review, approve, and monitor requests for provider involvement in research activities to ensure continuous compliance with Research Council Standards, adherence to approved guidelines for patient protection, provider project allocation time, acknowledgement and compensation.
Prepare, present, or facilitate the presentation of the Research Council’s recommendation for research approval for the Board of Directors.
Guide providers in reviewing, evaluating and where appropriate implementing evidence based models of practice.
Encourage and work with provider groups to identify research questions that may lead to collaborations with other departments and colleges engaged in health disparities research.
Drive research and practice informed clinical innovation strategies to advance the mission.

Job Requirements
Requirements include:
Doctor of Medicine degree from an ACGME accredited medical college required.
Board certified or board eligible in required specialty
Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible
Current valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
Monday – Friday 8 AM – 6 PM and Weekends 8 AM to 12 PM
