Position Description
Job Summary:
– Responsible for direction of patient care activities.
– Manages staff in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Supports and empowers them to embrace the mission, vision, and value statement of the hospital.
– Provides management of operational and nursing activities.
– Consults staff, physicians, and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on nursing needs and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are being met.
– Maintains performance improvement activities with the department and participates in quality improvement activities.
– Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operations of the department. Prepares reports regarding services, i.e. utilization, performance improvement,
outcome data, productivity, including long-term capital budget and short-term operational budget.
– Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other ancillary departments.
– Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, termination, Nursing Education (ED) Day completion and departmental staffing and
scheduling.
– Develops, justifies, and maintains fiscal budget.
– Ensures timesheets are accurately completed as required, Kronos/WFR input and monitoring of attendance.
Skill/Educational Requirements:
– Unencumbered current Colorado Registered Nurse license.
– Current BLS certification.
– Current ACLS certification.
– Current PALS certification
– Minimum of 3 years’ experience in acute care nursing.
– Minimum of 1 year experience in supervisory role.
