Wayne General Hospital is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lab Technician (MLT/MT) to join our Laboratory Services team. As a Lab Technician, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your role is critical in providing accurate and timely results to support our healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking.

Prepare and analyze specimens, ensuring accurate test results.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly.

Perform quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials.

Document and report test results to healthcare providers in a timely manner.

Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advances in laboratory medicine.

Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.

Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory personnel as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited program.

Certification: Must be certified or eligible for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred, but not required for recent graduates.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and computer systems.
