Position Description
The New Mexico Veterans Healthcare System is seeking a full-time board eligible Advanced Endoscopist to join our Team to help transform how we provide healthcare in times of great need. We have positions throughout New Mexico that may align with the geographic preference that you are seeking.
GI Physician Duties include:
Perform initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients using CVT technology and/or face-to-face visits.
Conduct advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including strong experience with endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), therapeutic ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and FNA, endoluminal stenting, and ablation of Barrett’s esophagus.
Provide ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients.
Screen outpatients to determine the need for further care.
Prescribe medications within defined scope of practice.
Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiogram.
Review need for and orders health promotion and disease prevention measures.
Initiate, respond to and expediate requests for consultations, special tests and studies
Provide education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
Attend staff meetings, team meetings, some committee meetings, and completes some peer review evaluations.
Provide education and guidance to Medical Residents in managing medical care to Veterans in the outpatient setting.
