NATURE OF WORK: Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Ancillary Services, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing and treating persons with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. This position may select alternative communication systems and teach their use and perform research related to speech and language problems. DUTIES:  Evaluates levels of speech, language, or swallowing difficulty.  Identifies treatment options.  Monitors patients’ progress and adjust treatments accordingly.  Develops or implements treatment plans for problems such as stuttering, delayed language, swallowing disorders, or inappropriate pitch or harsh voice problems based on assessments and recommendations of physicians, psychologists, or social workers.  Creates and carries out an individualized treatment plan that addresses specific functional needs.  Teaches children and adults how to make sounds and improve their voices and maintain fluency.  Assists individuals improve vocabulary and sentence structure used in oral and written language.  Works with children and adults to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow.  Counsels individuals and families on how to cope with communication and swallowing disorders.  Performs other duties as assigned. All duties and requirements must be performed consistent with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association standards. QUALIFICATION: Must possess MA, MS, MEd degree from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). Minimum of one (1) year of experience in hospital setting with multi-modality experience is preferred.

REQUIREMENTS: • Must be licensed by the CNMI Healthcare Professional Licensing Board (HCPLB) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) to practice Speech-Language Pathology. • Must be BLS certified by American Heart Association program.

CONDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Employment is contingent upon successful clearing of pre-employment health and drug screening in accordance with CHCC policy. OTHERS: This position is a Full-Time employment status and requires at least 40 hours per week. This position is “Exempt”, or is not eligible to receive overtime compensation pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938 Federal Law. Regular operating hours of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation will be Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm, however facility hours are 24 hours /7 day per week.
