Position Description

Project Vida Health Center is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate mental health care to underserved communities. As such, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced psychiatrist to join our dynamic team as a faculty member. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges while contributing to the advancement of psychiatric education.

Position Title: Psychiatry Faculty Member

Organization: Project Vida Health Center

Location: El Paso, Texas

Position Summary:

The Psychiatry Faculty Member will play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care, education, and research within the Project Vida Health Center. They will be responsible for providing direct clinical services to patients, supervising medical residents, and participating in academic initiatives aimed at advancing psychiatric education. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to serving underserved communities and a passion for teaching and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Services:

– Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment to patients across the lifespan, with a focus on underserved populations.

– Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

– Utilize evidence-based practices and culturally competent approaches to address the diverse needs of patients.

2. Teaching and Supervision:

– Supervise and mentor medical residents in psychiatry, fostering their clinical skills, professional development, and commitment to serving underserved communities.

– Develop and deliver didactic lectures, case conferences, and other educational activities to enhance the learning experience of trainees.

– Provide clinical supervision and guidance to trainees in outpatient, and community settings.

3. Academic Initiatives:

– Participate in scholarly activities, quality improvement initiatives, and program development efforts aimed at improving mental health outcomes in underserved communities.

– Contribute to the development of educational materials, clinical guidelines, and best practices in psychiatric care.

– Collaborate with faculty members and community partners to promote mental health awareness and advocacy initiatives.

4. Administrative Duties:

– Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other administrative activities as required.

– Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical services, supervision activities, and scholarly contributions.

– Assist in the recruitment and retention of medical residents and fellows interested in psychiatry.

Qualifications:

– Medical degree from an accredited institution

– Board certification in Psychiatry

– Eligibility for medical licensure in Texas

– Demonstrated experience providing psychiatric care to underserved populations

– Strong clinical and teaching skills, with a commitment to medical education

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

– Ability to work effectively in a diverse, interdisciplinary team environment

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and

budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
