# Director of Maternal Services

### Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced nursing professional to join our team as the Director of Maternal Services. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management and direction of our Maternal Services department, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients and their families.

### Summary

Directs the daily operations, programs, and activities in the Labor and Delivery department, including the supervision, management, and direction of the staff and clinical practice per state/federal requirements and the organizational/departmental philosophy and goals.

### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Plans and organizes activities related to specified clinical services to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with professional standards of maternal, post-partum and neonatal nursing care and hospital or center administrative procedures.

* Maintains Level I Maternal and Neonatal Designations.

* The Medina Regional Hospital Director of Labor and Delivery is also the designated Neonatal and Maternal Program Manager as described by the Texas administrative codes. Must be a registered nurse, have successfully completed and is current in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or an office-approved equivalent, have the authority and responsibility to monitor the provision of neonatal and maternal patient care services from admission, stabilization, operative intervention(s) if applicable, through discharge, inclusive of the QAPI Program, collaborate with the Neonatal and Maternal Program Medical Directors in areas to include, but not limited to: developing and/or revising policies, procedures and guidelines; assuring staff competency, education, and training; and the QAPI Program. Regularly participates in the neonatal QAPI meeting; and develops collaborative relationships with other Program Managers of designated facilities within the applicable Maternal and Perinatal Care Region.

* Coordinates activities with other hospital departments, patient care units, ambulance services, medical staff, patient’s relatives, law enforcement officers, clergy, morticians, and other health facilities.

* Develops, implements, and evaluates methods to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards.

* Develops, implements, and coordinates quality management, utilization review, and discharge planning programs. Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for staff members and participates in guidance and educational programs.

* Manages budget based on appropriate workload indicators and anticipated revenues. Monitors and controls department costs to maintain expenditures within allocations. Recommends acquisition of capital equipment.

* Other duties as assigned.

### Education and/or Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or higher

* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

* Certifications designated by facility per role

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency nursing, with at least two years in a leadership role, preferred

* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and departments

* Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards of care

* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

* Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
