Job Summary
Oversees day-to-day operations of the pharmacy to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate and departmental polices & procedures. Works directly with patients, providers and pharmacy staff to provide information and guidance to improve the overall well-being of our patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews prescriptions issued by physician or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and proper filling. Also evaluates patient profile for any incompatibilities.
Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and maintains their work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
Maintain full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration.
Listen carefully to patients to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice.
Prepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient.
Keep records of patient history and navigate electronic medical records.
Maintain up to date knowledge of drug interactions, indications, side effects, etc. to share with patients and other clinical staff.
Counsels patients on medication indications, proper use, side effects, interactions, and storage in compliance with federal law.
Actively participates in patient care by offering therapeutic options or alternatives to providers.
Works with community health workers and other SHC staff to find alternative payment routes for patients unable to afford necessary medication and treatment.
Assists with inventory management by identifying and processing outdates and overstocks and maintaining adequate stock of medication on hand.
Assists in performing compliance audits as instructed by the Pharmacy Director.
Provides other services as deemed necessary.
Counsels patients on the proper use of diabetic supplies such as glucometers, strips, lancets, and other devices as needed.
Become familiar with and continue to learn about the 340B program.
Other duties as assigned.

Credentials and Experience
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy and successful passing of the board of pharmacy exam.
Possession of a KY Pharmacy License is required.
Special Requirements
Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is required. Ability to travel periodically in-state and out-of-state.

Credentials and Experience
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy and successful passing of the board of pharmacy exam.
Possession of a KY Pharmacy License is required.
