Job Summary

As a CVOR Cath Lab Surgical Tech, you would provide technical assistance to
physician/registered nurse and under the supervision of anesthesia personnel
to prepare for the anesthetic needs of patients within the specific surgical
specialty of Cardiothoracic Surgical Intervention and as needed while
demonstrating the ability to assist within the other surgical specialties. You
will prepare anesthesia supplies/equipment relevant to the surgical
procedures, including assisting anesthesia personnel as directed with invasive
line placement, epidurals, spinals, IV’s, A-lines, Swan-Lines, intubations and
other anesthesia techniques.

  • You will demonstrate sound knowledge of surgical techniques, both routine and specialized, while applying this knowledge appropriately to develop and improve skills in assisting the surgeon.
  • Demonstrate competency with aseptic technique during surgery and ability to use equipment and supplies necessary for surgical procedures.
  • Differentiate sterilization methods for special equipment and instruments necessary for specific surgical procedures.
  • You will retract, suction, irrigate, apply pressure and assist in homeostasis by use of assorted sponges in the surgical field under the direction of the surgeon.
  • Perform co-circulating role with appropriate credentialing.
  • You would offer the willingness to go above and beyond daily assignments and actively offer support to colleagues within the main OR’s, cardiac OR’s and cardiac cath lab.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Minimum one year experience requirement.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST), or Association Surgical Technologist, or Vocational School Graduate, or Associate Degree must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
