Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:
The Staff Cloud Engineer role on the MLOps team is ideal for individuals
passionate about leveraging cloud technologies to support and scale machine
learning operations. You will work closely with HCA ITG leaders, data
scientists, project managers, enterprise architects, and other technical teams
to deliver solutions that enable seamless machine learning model deployment,
monitoring, and lifecycle management, while adhering to HCA policies and
industry best practices.
This position will focus on architecting, optimizing, and automating MLOps
workflows within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with Azure as an accepted
alternative when necessary. Responsibilities include ensuring that machine
learning models are deployed in a secure, scalable, and efficient manner, with
strong governance and cloud infrastructure management.
Major Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate Leadership in MLOps
Define and implement strategies for MLOps, focusing on scalable, automated,
and secure machine learning operations in a GCP environment. This includes
model versioning, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Enable End-to-End Machine Learning Pipelines
Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models, enabling
automated model training, testing, deployment, and retraining. Collaborate
with data scientists to operationalize models.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Develop and maintain IaC solutions for MLOps workflows using Terraform or
similar tools, focusing on standardization and repeatability across
environments.
• Collaboration with External Teams and Partners
Partner with Cloud providers to provide feedback, shape product roadmaps, and
ensure services meet HCA’s MLOps requirements.
• Collaborate with Internal Teams and Partners
Work with Security and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure all deployed
models comply with security guidelines, data privacy laws, and governance
standards, especially around data handling and model interpretability.
• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
Develop and maintain thorough documentation, including configuration guides,
architectural diagrams, and best practice documentation for MLOps. Share
knowledge across teams to standardize MLOps processes.
• Drive Continuous Improvement in MLOps Tools and Practices
Evaluate emerging MLOps tools, frameworks, and technologies, identifying
opportunities for improvement in current workflows and recommending tools to
increase automation, efficiency, and reliability.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud focused MLOps, DevOps, or related role,
preferably in a mid-sized to large organization.
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent certification preferred.
Preferred Skills:
• Strong knowledge of GCP services (e.g., Vertex AI, BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud
Storage).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and MLOps
platforms.
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and
model serving techniques.
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure optimization.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
