Job Summary and Qualifications
# What qualifications you will need:
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and supervising food and
nutrition service activities. Responsible for maintaining or exceeding
department standards for accuracy. Provide timely service and meet deadlines
consistently. Demonstrates proper food handling practices. Sets the example
and demonstrates work productivity for fellow employees. Responsible for daily
department functions and is able to work independently. Addresses scheduling
needs of work area. Works in a fast paced customer service-oriented
environment and to perform duties and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Understands and complies with the Methodist Healthcare code-of-conduct and
models ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the
community.
- Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
- Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals under the MHS Financial Performance Plan.
- Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules;
- Must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties;
- And must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
- Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community.
- Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Three years experience in food service with hospital experience preferred.
- Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 15 days of employment start date
- High School Graduate / GED
Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant has been nationally recognized for
its record setting kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs. It is home
to the Texas Transplant Institute and is the largest living donor kidney
transplant program in the US. According to the United Network of Organ Sharing
database, the center reached a major milestone in 2019 by performing 231
living donor kidney transplants in a single year setting a new national record
– that’s 65 more transplants than the second center on the list.
In addition to transplant care, Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is
a full service hospital with over 260 beds that provides specialized services
for liver cancer care, emergency care, weight loss surgery, urology surgery,
vascular surgery, inpatient rehabilitation, colorectal surgery and behavioral
health care. It is a designated Center of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Our Sexual Assault
Response Team provides a compassionate environment for sexual assault
survivors ages 13+, serving as a model for hospitals and agencies all over the
