Job Summary and Qualifications

Surgical Technologist support patient care in the perioperative setting by
assisting surgeons and nursing staff before, during and after surgical
procedures. As an integral member of the team, Scrub Techs make meaningful

What you will do in this role:
The role of the Surgical Technician is to assist the OR team in the care of
patients, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technician in Surgery provides
care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients
between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. The
surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments,
supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical
Technician understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs
of the surgeon. The Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and
ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is
constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. When the Surgical
Technician is in the second scrub role they assist the surgeon and/or surgical
assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including
sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the
endoscopic camera.
What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)
  • CORT preferred
  • BLS required
  • One to two years previous OR experience preferred.
