Position Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
* Provide direct dental assistance to the dentist in all phases of dentistry.
* Enter all data into the Dental Practice Management System (DPMS) via computer as required.
* Maintain clean, orderly, and disinfected operations, sterilization room lab, break room, and dark room after each patient.
* Oil handpieces.
* Expose, develop, and mount radiographs.
* Disinfect and sterilize dental instruments appropriately and after each patient with up-to-date protocols for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), COVID-19, etc.
* Seats and greets patients in the operating room and prepares them for treatment.
* Takes patient’s impressions and pours casts as prescribed.
* Provide oral hygiene instructions to all patients.
* Perform lab work as prescribed.
* Maintain all equipment according to schedule.
* Tracks all lab cases, including notifying labs of pick-up, packaging, and mailing cases and notifying the patients of completed cases.
* Keep inventory of all clinical supplies and prepare orders promptly.
* Prepare and mail spore test for autoclave, monthly.
* Mail and distribute radiation badges quarterly.
* Prepare and organize the tools needed by the dentist and hygienist.
* Report broken equipment to immediate supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of the Dentrix software program
* Familiarization of all insurance carriers.
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to travel to other QCHC dental sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* * Advanced degree from an accredited school
* * This can be a year of study or two (2) years (3,000 hours) of work experience or passing the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assisting Exam.
* * State of Pennsylvania Certification/Registration
* X-Ray Certification
Experience: Three (3) years of dental assisting experience
Schedule:
* 8-hour shift
* Day Shift
* Monday through Friday
