GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Medical Director for Psychiatric Services provides clinical leadership on matters pertaining to medical issues, quality of care, clinical guidelines, peer review, and resolution of medical incidents. They provide leadership assistance in recruitment of medical clinicians to fill vacancies and achieving organizational objectives. Provides input into strategic decisions for the Medical Division. The Associate Medical Director role is provided with multiple sessions per month, depending on assigned duties, to complete the required duties in addition to physician clinical responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Provide leadership within Terry Reilly and at individual clinic work sites.
* Perform duties as described in the Physician job description.
* Commit to leadership within Terry Reilly and demonstrate that leadership by understanding and balancing Terry Reilly’s organizational goals and needs with those of Terry Reilly’s clinicians and staff.
* Supervision and mentoring of physicians, FNPs, and PAs; address and develop performance improvement plans, monitor such, and ensure improvement occurs. These plans are developed in close association with the CMO.
* Responsible for ensuring completion of performance evaluations of assigned physicians.
* Work in concert with the Clinical Supervisor(s) of PA-Cs and FNPs, the Medical Director and CMO to ensure strategic and operational goals are achieved.
* Develop and update Terry Reilly Medical Clinical Guidelines (Guidelines should be approved by Medical Quality Leadership Team) working collaboratively with clinicians.
* Assure medical clinicians are trained on appropriate corporate policies/protocols/guidelines.
* Be an active participant in the Medical Quality Leadership Team meetings, monthly physician meetings, and the functional meetings.
* Be an active participant in the assigned meetings or workgroups, which may include: Incident Review Committee, QHIT, and the Peer Review Committee.
* Work closely with managers in determining system improvement needs, and, as appropriate, assist with implementation.
* Act as nursing liaison between clinicians and nursing.
* Facilitate open communication between clinicians and administration.
* Promote patient-centered care and lead their team care meetings in concert with the broader care team.
* Provide strong examples for other clinicians by upholding TRHS corporate culture values
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Fulfills all essential duties and meets qualifications of the Physician, Psychiatric Services job description
* Medical Clinician with at least 2 years of clinical experience
* Possesses strong leadership qualities.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Prior clinical and/or administrative experience in a community health center setting.
* Bilingual English/Spanish.
