JOB SUMMARY
The Community Paramedicine Coordinator will work with Community Medical Providers, and other healthcare agencies to establish, implement, and oversee the Community EMS Program for Cody Regional Health. This position also carries the responsibilities of working as a paramedic for CRH EMS.
The Paramedic delivers patient care within the scope of his/her practice in the Emergency Medical Services and assists as needed in the facility. Paramedic is a member of the Emergency Medical Services team and must work with other healthcare providers to deliver care to medically ill and traumatized patients of various criticalities. Emergency Medical Services Paramedic serves in the leadership role of EMT’s during an Emergency Medical Services call and on-duty. They provide or assist in patient assessments, treatment and transportation. Must participate in the operation of the department, which includes but is not limited to staffing, daily equipment inspections, yearly education day, mandatory training and fifty percent of the department monthly training to maintain clinical privilege.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Currently licensed as a Wyoming EMT-Paramedic, National Registry – Paramedic, Healthcare. Have current or have the ability to obtain certification as a Certified Community Paramedic (CP-C). Required to be a graduate of or is currently enrolled in a Community Paramedicine educational program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Must have Community Paramedicine Certification within 18 months of employment in the position.
EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of Hospital based EMS experience preferred
SKILLS
Must have excellent leadership skills. Well-developed written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are necessary. Good driving skills are essential. Must have the ability to quickly and calmly react to life threatening situations. Ability to communicate with a variety of people of different cultural backgrounds and educational levels. Ability to assess and treat patients to the US DOT and Wyoming Office of EMS, EMT- Paramedic level.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Wyoming EMT-Paramedic, National Registry – Paramedic; Healthcare BLS Provider; AHA ACLS Provider;
AHA PALS or EMSC Advanced Provider; PHTLS Advanced Provider; Current clean Wyoming Driver’s License; Community Paramedicine Certification within 18 months of employment in the position.
