Position Description

The Director of Respiratory Services is highly professional and is responsible for the operational and administrative oversight of Respiratory Care, as well as for the implementation and evaluation of clinical procedures, equipment and research. The Director has oversight and responsibility for budgeting, operations improvement, and program planning /development and quality improvement initiatives. They collaborate with administration to assure the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care. The Director is expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with physicians and clinical leaders, serve as the administrative point of contact for all internal and external customers and ensure satisfaction of patients, families, staff and physicians. They are responsible for creating an environment of safety conducive to achieving quality outcomes, effective use of resources and retention of quality staff.

* Supervise and performs both basic and critical respiratory care procedures
* Performs both evaluation and diagnostic testing on in-house patients and outpatients
* Communicates with physicians for the best care of the patient according to established protocol
* Quality Control of all state and federal regulated equipment as needed
* Participates in the planning and implementation of Quality Assurance / Performance Improvement initiatives
* Responsible for scheduling and maintaining adequate staffing levels within the Respiratory Department
* Department, staff and patient education and updates
* Responsible for maintenance of inventory and supplies for Respiratory Therapy Department
* Training and evaluating all Respiratory Department personnel
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Graduate of an approved AMA program for Respiratory Therapy
* Florida Respiratory Therapist License (RRT) in good standing
* Three years managerial / supervision experience
* BLS, ACLS, PALS certification
* Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
* Good listening and communication skills
* Must be able to speak, read and write the English language
