Job Summary and Qualifications
Acts to support Division needs in the quality and patient safety space.
Actively collaborates with the Vice President of Quality and Compliance and
Chief Medical Officer and larger team for the Capital Division to assure
standard practices across all hospitals. Leads cross campus quality activities
as directed, and expands oversight in absence of VP. Role is directly
involved in activities that forward the division meeting or exceeding
organizational quality goals (process measures, outcomes, efficiency,
service).
As needed, supports members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, to best
support successful execution of performance improvement plans. Focuses on
professional growth and development of highly engaged Quality and Compliance
team to maximize organizational contributions.
In collaboration with interdisciplinary hospital and physician leadership and
staff, coordinates (plans, implements, and monitors) a comprehensive,
effective performance improvement program. Mentors colleagues regarding useful
performance improvement and/or process change strategies.
Facilitates interdisciplinary performance improvement initiatives using
appropriate techniques and tools to evaluate and improve effectiveness of
division and hospital care delivery systems.
Acts as a catalyst to implement and sustain change(s) for improvement.
Champions continual improvement, adjusting goals to remain competitive in
comparison to local and national performance.
Fosters culture of safety and continuous quality improvement acting as a
resource for division, hospital and physician leadership and staff. Encourages
involvement in problem identification and resolution. Supports transparency
congruent with peer review and Patient Safety Organization, including
participation in disclosure of hospital events.
Continually updates and shares knowledge of evolving healthcare quality
environment including pay for performance programs and associated best
practices. Strong verbal and written communication using multiple formats.
Abstracts, formats, and communicates data from internal and external sources
to a variety of audiences. Demonstrates in-depth data analysis, process
evaluation and redesign, and valid measures of success.
Partners with division, hospital and physician leadership and staff to remain
survey ready, based on standards and guidelines defined by state and national
accreditation and regulatory agencies.
Adept in authoring and executing acceptable project and/or action plans.
Identifies [certification, quality award, database participation]
opportunities to highlight hospital signature services in positive manner.
Capital Division which encompasses 19 hospitals overall. Our hospitals include
one Level I, three Level II, and four Level III trauma centers. The Capital
Division office is located in downtown Richmond, VA. We are home to one of
