General Dentist – $50,000 in student loan repayment +renewal options

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a General Dentist for a community health center, also called a federally qualified health center (FQHC), inDes Moines, Iowa.

What is a community health center?

* Community health centers are the nation’s largest source of comprehensive primary care for medically under-resourced communities and populations.
* Through an integrated care model, including medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, patients can access comprehensive, coordinated services often under one roof.

Position Details:

* Eligible for student loan repayment up to $50,000 for two years of service (and renewal possible)
* Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM; no weekends
* Avg # of pts seen per day: 13 with additional hygiene checks
* Number of operatories: 9
* Laboratory: external laboratories used for fixed and removable prosthodontic cases
* X-ray: Digital
* Current Staff: 1 FT General Dentist, 1 FT Hygienist, 2 PT Hygienists
* Call Schedule: After 6 months of employment, dentists are expected to take call in 2 week increments approximately 3x/year. Not required to go into clinic while on call.
* Additional info: diverse patient population with many Spanish-speaking patients and large pediatric patient population.

Required Qualifications:

* DDS/DMD degree from an approved dental school
* Current license to practice dentistry in the state of Iowa
* Current license to prescribe narcotics used in patient care (DEA & CSA)
* Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification
* Eligible for hospital privileges
* Ability to consistently meet the departmental work schedule as designated
* Ability to treat patients of all ages within the scope of general dentistry
* Ability to perform surgical extractions
* Ability to perform anterior root canals

* Your experience and skills determine your base pay. The hiring range for this position is typically $150,000 – 170,000, though highly experienced candidates may earn up to $204,000 per year.
