Position Description
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation is an 86-bed hospital and outpatient facility, located in the village of Garapan and serves a population of about 50,000 people. The facility offers a broad range of services and specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Head and Neck Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Podiatry, Oncology, Inpatient and Outpatient Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Psychiatry, and Nephrology.
At CHCC you will be part of a collaborative medical community providing services to the local population as well as tourists and other visitors. Transferring patients off the island for services is difficult and often not possible. Don’t be intimidated by this! Saipan is a lush tropical island located at the southern end of the Northern Mariana Islands in the Western Pacific Ocean and is considered a WWII heritage site with a complex and intriguing history. Additionally, Saipan is a perfect launching point for travel to many parts of Asia and southeast Asia with affordable direct flights to Tokyo Japan, Seoul and Busan South Korea, Guam, and expected return of direct flights to Hong Kong. Salary: $280,500 P/_A ($135/hr) (the CNMI enjoys one of the lowest tax burdens in the U.S.; Salary is equivalent to that of a $425K salary in San Francisco and New York)_
_The Practice_
Manage hemodialysis unit with 100+ patients; 3 shifts/day, 27stations (2 iso) with Braun machines
Manage peritoneal dialysis program
Coordinate with Internal Medicine Outpatient service for integration of Medical and Dialysis care
Readmit returning patients (up to 10 patients ‘off island’ at any given time for medical procedures (themselves/family) or travel.)
Answer inpatient Nephrology consultation requests (1-3/week avg.)
EHR is Care Vue.
_Schedule:_
Round on IP, consults. Usually 0-2 new pts/day (ESRD or consult)
Clinic if scheduled in PM
Readmit returning HD patients to unit, paperwork
Resolve HD/PD pt issues as they arise
Monthly rounds :
See pts with team
Lab/data/decision making entered into note by team
MD review, edit and sign
_Qualifications_
* Accepting locums, permanent, and locums to permanent
* Minimum 3-month assignment starting as soon as possible, 6 months or longer preferred. (Job sharing would be acceptable if a member of a group interested in rotational duties.)
* Board certification in Internal Medicine required.
* Nephrology fellowship or adequate experience to qualify as Medical Director of a dialysis unit preferred.
* Interventional Nephrology training highly desired (procedures not required)
* Must be US or Canadian trained
* Must be Medicare reimbursement eligible
* ACLS/BLS required (expected to run codes on their own patients)
* Current US passport required
* CNMI license required (application process supported by HR staff).
* Licensing and credentialing takes 6-8 weeks

Compensation:
$280,500 Per Annum (Salary is equivalent to that of a $425K salary in San Francisco and New York)
Benefits:
* $10,000 one-time signing bonus for initial contracts of at least 2 years.
* International flight from the point of recruitment for the employee. Return flight to original embarkation is included and will be arranged upon completion of contract.
* Malpractice coverage is provided under the CNMI Government Liability Act (essentially identical to the Federal Tort Claims Act).
* Reimbursement of up to $250 for pre-employment health screening costs.
* Annual Leave: Accrues at eight (8) hours per pay period (bi-weekly), with a full-time Employment Contract
* Sick Leave: Accrues at four (4) hours per pay period (bi-weekly)
* Up to 5 days of paid leave for CME.
