Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Professional Development Educator enhances professional practice
and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality
educational programs and activities that promote professional aptitude for
nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff at the assigned
facility.
What you will do in this role:
Provides expert care in lactation management according to the ILCA Standards
of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants. Provides informal and formal
staff development learning activities related to breastfeeding management.
Serves as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians, and other
healthcare professionals in the management of patients with complex
breastfeeding problems. Participates in program development activities.
Practices according to the family-centered maternity care mode.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support Required

• * * Neonate Resuscitate within 3 months of hire
• Intl Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Required within two years of hire
• Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Nursing Preferred.
• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing, preferred. · If RN, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
• Current RN License in the State of Texas or compact license, preferred
• Associate Degree required
• Continuing education in lactation and breastfeeding required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in maternal-child health nursing in an acute care setting, preferred.
• Experience with breastfeeding management required.
