Position Function : Clinical

Classification : Regular, Full-time, 40 hours/week

Schedule : Monday – Friday 1.0 FTE

Location : Onsite (not remote, not hybrid); office located in Valley Center, CA

Indian Health Council, Inc. (IHC) a tribal healthcare organization established in 1970, provides a full spectrum of onsite and outreach services to the North San Diego County reservations of Inaja-Cosmit, La Jolla, Los Coyotes, Mesa Grande, Pala, Pauma, Rincon, San Pasqual, and Santa Ysabel.

We are looking for a compassionate, professional, and culturally sensitive LCSW to provide counseling services to our patients.

SUMMARY:

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for providing direct services to Individuals and families who are members of the Consortium Tribes. These services will include early intervention for issues related to suicide, trauma, chemical dependency, domestic violence and child and elder abuse. This position works under the direct supervision of the IHC’s Behavioral Health Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed. 1. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will offer a full spectrum of diagnostic assessments/screenings to individuals and families participating in the assigned grant program.

2. Is responsible for the development of screening instruments that are culturally and linguistically relevant to the Consortium population.

3. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker, when providing clinical assessment, will test the limits when indicated.

4. Other responsibilities include prevention education, assessment, treatment planning, acute treatment, safety planning, crisis assessment and intervention and family support, as well as make referrals for a type or level of service needed.

5. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will make sure that referrals outside of the Consortium area are culturally and linguistically appropriate.

6. Cooperate and collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment approaches as appropriate.

7. Provide services to patients’ homes, work sites, schools, detention centers, inpatient units and jails to provide screening, assessments and education to the Indian community regarding mental health and wellness as deemed appropriate.

8. Provide oversight and supervision to project staff by providing clinical expertise and overall direction for achieving the projects goals and objectives of the grants to which they are assigned.

9. Professionally and respectfully represent all the Consortium Clinics in the community, clinical and legal arenas.

10. Document succinct and comprehensive case records in a timely and consistent fashion in accordance with agency, grantor, legal and ethical principles.

11. Adhere strictly to the laws and ethics related to confidentiality at all times.

12. Under supervision, make recommendations on the basis of clinical information.

13. Allow for and provide access to alternative interventions (i.e., traditional practices/Spiritual beliefs, sweat lodges, etc.)

14. Attend program, clinical, or administrative meetings and trainings as required.

15. Participate in activities and training which enhance professional development.

16. Provide supervision to ACSW.

17. Provide statistical reports as required.

18. Position may be re-assigned during activation of EOP.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

TRAVEL & DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

• Travel is not required for this position.

• Driving is required for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in related field required.

• Minimum 1 year of LCSW experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, MEMBERSHIPS AND REGULATIONS

• Applicants must have a current LCSW license from California Board of Behavioral Sciences and maintain that license in good standing throughout employment. Individuals who hold degrees and are license eligible or accruing hours towards licensure may apply.

• 15-hour BBS supervisor course.

• A valid California driver’s license and a good driving record will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

• Current AED CPR certification or attainment within 6 months of hire.

• Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, tuberculin skin test or x-ray and urine drug screen test to include marijuana.

• Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position.

• Must pass criminal background check.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of San Diego county agencies and funding agencies.

• Possess excellent interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proven ability working with multi-cultural communities, preferably Native American.

• Ability to relate and work with both youth, adults, and elders.

• Ability to work with tribal officials, tribal community members, and other Consortium Clinics and their departments.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

Must be proficient in the following:

• Productivity Software: Microsoft Office 365 (Email, Calendar, Word, Excel, Power Point), Teams (video conferencing and meetings), and Share Point.

• Databases: NextGen (or EPIC) electronic healthcare records.

• Utilization of Paycom, Paycom Learning, and PolicyTech systems.

Indian Preference shall be given in accordance with IHC’s Policies and Procedures.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Will not consider associate level licensure

Compensation:

$90,429/year (experience up to 5 years) to $97,591/year (experience 6+ years)
