Position Description
## This position combines responsibility for primary patient care with those administrative and management functions associated with clinical staff supervision, managed care and quality assurance. Reports to the CEO.
_Essential Functions & Responsibilities_:
## As a primary care physician
1. Provide direct patient care as a member of the clinical team working with Nurses, NP’s and Medical Assistants toward achieving the goals of CHWC clinical and strategic plan on an agreed upon clinical schedule based on needs of the organization.
2. Complies with all CHC Policies and Procedures.
3. Collaborates with team members to assure quality patient care, appropriate distribution of work, and efficient patient care delivery.
4. Meet productivity standards as mandated by grants or clinical needs.
## As a Medical Director
Accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for the Quality and coordination of patient care services-specifically:
## I. In House
a. Develop and manage the Quality Assurance Committee in collaboration with the Director of Quality.
b. Report identified quality metrics and progress to the Board of Directors on at least a quarterly basis.
c. Works cooperatively with relevant Board Committees.
d. Prepare an Annual Health Care Plan with CHWC COO and CEO.
e. Meet with the COO and CEO on a regular basis for planning and evaluation of Health Care Programs.
f. Assist in the recruitment and selection of professional staff.
g. Collaborate with, evaluate and mentor professional clinical staff.
h. Recommend/approve and arrange coverage for continuing medical education leave requests for professional staff.
i. Participate in CHWC sponsored community collaboratives.
j. Develop yearly budgets with Management Team.
k. Participate in precepting medical students and residents.
l. Conduct monthly clinical staff meetings.
m. Participates in monthly management meetings.
n. Co-leads integrative provider meetings with Medical, Behavioral Health and Dental teams.
o. Oversight of all off clinical CHWC operations, including off site locations.
## II. Off Site
a. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with specialists, hospital and other health care professionals.
b. Represent CHWC at relevant professional meetings, Clinical Issue Committees, ACO meetings and financial meetings.
## Performance Goals
1. Work effectively with the Nursing Director, COO and CEO to
establish standards of quality care and operational efficiencies.
2. Communicate effectively with patients, staff and key stakeholders.
3. Have an ability to apply sound administrative principles and methods in the management of diverse personnel and health care programs for optimum results.
4. Be current with changing health policy and procedures.
5. Have an ability to set priorities and make decisions on critical health care programs and issues.
6. Demonstrates the ability to understand, interpret and implement state, federal and the Center’s mission, policy decisions and direction that align with the organization’s strategic plan and care delivery initiatives.
7. Other duties as assigned.
_Additional General Requirements_ : Professional positive attitude, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness, excellent interpersonal skills and fiscal acumen.
_Job Qualifications/Requirements_ :
_Education_ :
1. Requires a Medical degree from an accredited University.
2. Board eligible/certified physician in a primary care category.
3. At least three years practice experience preferably in an urban setting serving minority population groups and/or a Federally Qualified Health Center setting.
4. Commitment to providing high quality health services to indigent and/or uninsured families is essential.
5. Experience working with mid-level practitioners.
6. Must have current CT state medical license and controlled substance certificate.
7. Must have a current DEA certificate.
8. Must be eligible for participation in all state and private medical insurance plans designated by CHWC.
9. Must be credentialed per CHWC policies and procedures.
_Experience_ : At least three years in administrative and active clinical capacity preferable
_Language Skills_: Must speak, write and read English proficiently. Spanish preferred but not required.
_Licensure/Certification Required_:
