Mental Health Associate

Major Duties:

Provides individual, marital, family and group counseling services to all age groups including children and adolescents. Provides basic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of psychiatric illnesses and emotional/psychological problems to identify and assess social, psychological and sociological factors affecting the patient’s understanding and response to medical treatment, as well as provides therapeutic intervention into the client’s problems that facilitate recovery of health and stability. Provides integrated behavioral health services in the primary care clinic. Works with community organizations including tribal health, recovery center, prisons as required to improve the health of our patients. Participates in crisis intervention when necessary, performing suicide assessments and safety planning as clinical situation requires. Coordinates referral of patient to non-IHS facilities and health care providers. Develops and manages case management services. Completes case documentation.
