Position Description

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist for our rural hospital. The Laboratory Technologist performs phlebotomy, waived testing, moderate complexity testing, high complexity testing and maintains necessary documentation in the laboratory. The Laboratory Technologist will maintain the standards of the lab in accordance with the regulatory agencies.

Work Schedule:

* Full Time. This position participates in the on-call coverage schedule to provide 24/7 care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepares routine laboratory orders and phlebotomy

* Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results

* Maintains records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens

* Adheres to quality control policies and documentation

* Can perform ALL waived testing, ALL moderate complexity testing, and ALL high complexity testing performed at this facility

* Performs daily, weekly, monthly and as needed maintenance on all laboratory equipment

* Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor

* Orders, cleans, and stocks laboratory supplies as needed

* Faxes completed laboratory reports to their designated providers

* Sends and maintains documentation of testing to reference laboratories

Qualifications

* Associates or Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science/medical laboratory science

* MT/MLS/MLT with ASCP certification

Experience:

* Laboratory experience preferred but not required
