Position Description

Sidney Regional Medical Center is hiring for full-time or part-time night shift Nurse Aide in our Acute Care department.

Job Responsibilities:

* Provide direct patient care duties in the hospital under direction of nursing and medical staff.
* Answer call lights and assist with patient requests.
* Bathe patients, assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLS), and assist with ambulation.
* Serve and collect food trays, pass water, and feed patients requiring help.
* Change bed linens daily and as needed.
* Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, food/fluid intake and output as directed. Apply compresses, ice bags, aquapads, and Ted hose (pneumatic hose).
* Perform transferring, ambulation, or range of motion as directed in individual care plans.
* Lift, move, and transport patients using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
* Assist with Peri-care and post mortem care as necessary.
* Assist with setting up auxiliary equipment (i.e. oxygen, suction, Gomco, nebulizers, K-Pads, etc.) under the direction of RN or assigned LPN that does not require a license for performance.
* Demonstrate personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner.
* Perform and maintain documentation.
* Observe and report changes in the patient’s status to RN or LPN caring for patient or charge nurse.
* Complete shift end check with a nurse prior to leaving duty.
* Conduct and document through the EMR a thorough account of each patient’s status during scheduled shift.
* Communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members regarding patient’s condition and nursing plan of care.
* Follow approved shift report format when communicating patient information.
* Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with patients, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
* Report any suspected or known illegal activities.
* Promote and ensure patient safety in performance of all responsibilities.
* Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment; report environmental deficiencies to the house supervisor such as lighting and equipment.
* Demonstrate proficient technical/clinical skills and operational knowledge of equipment on the floor.
* Inform and involve RN or LPN regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Utilize proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques, and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.
* Follow HIPAA regulations and ensure that the confidentiality of patient’s medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records are maintained.
* Comply with the state and federal regulatory requirements of the company compliance.
* Enhance professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
* Seek opportunities for continued growth and performance improvement.
* Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
* Dependable and complete work in a timely manner.
* Demonstrate an understanding and emphasis on quantity, quality, and knowledge of duties and tasks.
* Regular attendance.
* Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

* High School diploma or GED is preferred.
* Previous healthcare experience is desirable.
* Preferred Licensure: Successfully complete Nursing Assistant class and maintain registry requirements.
* Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
