OBGYN Nocturnist

Carilion Clinic, an integrated healthcare system affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, is seeking a dedicated and experienced OBGYN Nocturnist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care during nighttime hours, working collaboratively with our team of medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care and consultative services to patients on Labor and Delivery, in the inpatient setting, and in the Emergency Department.
* Conduct deliveries, perform cesarean sections, manage postpartum care, and perform emergency gynecologic surgery (e.g. D&Cs, laparoscopic surgery for ovarian torsion/ectopic pregnancy).
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including midwives, nurses, and pediatricians, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
* Educate and counsel patients regarding reproductive health, prenatal care, and family planning.
* Engage in resident and student teaching, contributing to the academic mission of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance committees, with adherence to hospital protocols and guidelines.

Carilion Women’s is comprised of 33 physicians, a talented group of Advanced Practice Providers, and a growing Midwifery division. The department has a large Academic Specialist in General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division and provides Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Pediatric/Adolescent Gynecology services. Qualifications:

* MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Valid medical license to practice in Virginia.
* Excellent clinical skills and a commitment to quality care.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment.
* Previous significant experience as a nocturnist or in the provision of secondary/tertiary hospital-based women’s healthcare is preferred.
