Location: Gering, NE Position: Patient Service Representative 1 Salary Range:  $14.25 To $16.68 Hourly Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas: * Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center. * Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services. * Supportive Health Services: Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs. Major Duties: 1. Answer a multi-line telephone system timely and efficiently and show exceptional courtesy to all callers. 2. Determine the needs of callers and refer to appropriate staff and/or to other community resources. 3. Schedule patient appointments according to availability on schedule. 4. Record and relay messages via the Electronic Medical Record system. 5. Expedite voice mail. 6. Send, receive, log-in and distribute faxes to appropriate departments. 7. Maintain a positive attitude towards clients and staff. 8. Maintain patient confidentiality for Protected Health Information (PHI) or Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) according to HIPAA law and CAPWN policy. 9. Acquire knowledge of programs to assure accurate responses to questions. 10. Enter data for spreadsheets, databases and perform word processing as assigned. 11. Perform other duties as assigned Working Conditions: * Public interaction 90%, 10% training, meetings, and community interaction. * Work requires the ability to meet tight deadlines and at times fast paced. * Flexible work hours as needed. * Long periods of sitting in a chair. Physical Requirements: * Operate office machines. * Occasional lifting and carrying of up to ten pounds. * Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability or with correction. Minimum Qualifications: Grade 11: 1. High School Diploma or GED required. 2. Preference given to those able to communicate effectively in English and in Spanish. Applicable screening will occur for additional compensation. 3. One year’s experience as receptionist or similar office/clerical duties preferred. 4. One year’s computer experience in data entry and word processing required. 5. Excellent customer service skills required. 6. Ability to multitask in a busy environment. 7. Physically and mentally able to perform required duties. Grade 12: 1. Meet minimum qualifications above plus. 2. Two years’ experience in customer service OR operation of multi-line telephone system. Grade 13: 1. Meet minimum qualifications above plus. 2.
