Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical care
activities to ensure safe and effective drug therapy through the provision of
clinical pharmacy services. The Clinical Pharmacist delivers pharmaceutical
care services by monitoring and intervening in therapeutics to provide optimum
outcomes in a cost effective manner. The Clinical Pharmacist fulfills
departmental responsibilities within the long-range plan, mission, vision and
values of the hospital.
What you will do in this role:

  • The pharmacist shall use the medication process to assess, plan intervene when necessary, implement and evaluate patient care. Based on the medication use,
  • The practice of pharmacy shall be in compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Reviews all orders to assure appropriateness; intervenes and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Assures departmental procedures are followed when non-formulary drugs, high alert drugs, target drugs, restricted drugs, and investigational drugs are ordered.
  • Assures that medications are properly prepared and dispensed to the unit in a timely manner.
  • Checks all doses prepared by technicians.
  • Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to prepare medications.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Current Tennessee Pharmacist License or eligible for licensure
  • One-year hospital experience or equivalent preferred
  • Doctorate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
