Position Description

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the full practice of pharmacy in accordance with applicable regulatory statues and accreditation standards as required by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency and HRSA/340b guidelines. The Pharmacy Manager shall be responsible for interpreting prescription orders; compounding, packaging, labeling, dispensing, administering and distribution of drugs and devices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion and graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy. Must maintain an active license issued by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy, maintain a current CPR certification including BCLS and name is NOT listed of the OIG and/or DEA exclusion websites.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Clear, concise, oral and written communication

Minimum of two years of experience as a pharmacist

Current and valid Georgia Pharmacist license

Must be listed as Pharmacist-in-Charge with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy

Certification in immunizations

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interpret prescription orders

Fill prescriptions correctly and counsel patients.

Monitor drug therapy in conformance with OBRA Act.

Participate in drug review and drug product selection with substitutions

Responsible for proper and safe storage of drugs and maintaining proper records

Return controlled drugs; dispose of non-controlled drugs

Order, price, control inventory

Prepare third party billing, correct pricing errors

Advise physicians prescribing, drug expense

Oversee the performance of the Pharmacy Technician(s) at the center

Maintain professional and business practice standards

Maintain total patient and department confidentiality at all times.

Assure proper legal compliance in Pharmacy

Forward reports to Administration on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Oversees the accuracy and scope of the Pharmacy computer system and communicates the shortcomings of the system to Administration and follows up on deficiencies until the system meets applicable requirements

Becomes familiar with accreditation standards and designations (i.e. 340b, AAAHC, NCQA), reviews current practices, policies and procedures and proposes in writing and changes required for total accreditation or compliance.

Follows up and completes applications of PBMs (all documents prepared for signature by the CEO)

Meets regularly with providers, medical staff, office staff to keep them updated on pharmacy operations, updates, pricing changes, drug availability, etc.

Submits as required (daily) to the ‘Prescription Drug Monitoring Program’ report of scheduled drugs dispensed.

Verifies accuracy of adjudication of pharmacy claims.

Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.

Provide patient or community outreach activities to include education, screening sessions, health fairs and presentations.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires prolong standing, walking, use of hands, fingers, handling of objects, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, etc.

Requires lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Require versatility

Requires ability to work under stressful conditions.

Requires ability to work under pressure with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public.

Working conditions may result in exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids

Requires ability to work variable schedules in addition to meetings, conferences and community events.

May require traveling between multiple facilities.
