Position Description

PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE POSITION MAY INCLUDE:

Manage complex medical hematology and medical oncology care for Veterans.

Provide patient screening and management of hematologic/oncologic diseases per National and VA guidelines.

Maintain the timely entry and use of the electronic medical record system for workload capture, and for review of current and future medical care needs.

Provide for education and supervision of trainees/Fellows.

Work in collaboration with other Interdisciplinary team members to ensure the safety and quality of Veteran care.

Responsible for all performance metrics related to quality of patient care.

Demonstrate positive customer service and respect in all aspects of patient care.

Collaborate with other providers and participate in quality improvement, quality assurance, continuous survey readiness, and work groups.

Maintain licensures and certifications requisite for credentials and privileges at the OKC VAHCS.

Demonstrate ethical and professional behavioral standards per Medical Staff Bylaws.

Ensure that work relationships are compliant with written and stated professional VA policies.

Demonstrate willingness to participate in an independent research program according to the needs of the Service Line.

Demonstrate initiative to gain a University Faculty appointment if teaching of Fellows requires such.

Foster courteous and respectful treatment of patients of varied cultures, backgrounds, ages and customs.
