Position Description
The Physician provides comprehensive medical care to patients of Capital Area Health Network. The
Physician will work independently and in collaboration with a variety of staff to ensure professional
and quality care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Performs physical examinations of new and existing patients and determines x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests required.
* Interprets examination findings, test results, and implements treatment plans.
* Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains data through interviews.
* Provides continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the entire family unit, to include preventative medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
* Participates in surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, and critical care procedures according to training and demonstrated ability.
* Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
* Participate in quality efforts to increase health outcomes of patients
* Instructs other health care providers and non-medical personnel in a variety of health related topics, including first-aid measures, basic and advanced cardiac life support, and health care maintenance.
* May teach family practice residents and medical students.
* Other medical center related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/LICENSURE
* A Graduate of an accredited university with a Doctor of Medicine degree or a Doctor of Osteopathy
degree.
* Completion of an accredited residency program.
* Active and unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia and Federal DEA license. Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventative medicine.
* Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and community health centers.
* Knowledge of the structure and function of community health centers.
* Ability to be credentialed and privileged by the Board
* Skills in communicating effectively with patients and family members or caretakers.
* Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and the general public.
Work Schedule:
Weekdays (8-5)
Compensation Range:
$100,000 +
