Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse /Day Surgery assumes responsibility and accountability
for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these
patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the
environment/instrumentation, and other health care members. He/She follows the
policies and procedures of JFK Medical Center North Campus. The Registered
Nurse interacts with other departments, patients/families, physicians, clergy,
nurses, students, and outside agencies. He/She supervises one to four LPN’s,
PCA/CNA and US.
In This Role You Will:

• You will assess, plan, intervene and evaluate the care of Pre-Op and Phase II Recovery patients.
• You will instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• You will maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results.
• You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders.

What qualifications you will need:

• Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date -Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• One-year acute care experience required
• Outpatient Surgery experience preferred
• One- year pre-op experience required
