Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced ICU CCU Registered Nurse for our hospital to
ensure that we deliver exceptional care to our critically ill patients in the
intensive care unit. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each

What will you do in this role:
· ​Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as
scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient
status.
· ​Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management,
including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
· ​Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the
medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient
medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
· ​Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for
therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the
event of an unintended response to medication.
· ​Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition,
patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and
follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete
understanding.
· ​Manages a care team, providing oversight and delegation to members as
appropriate.
· ​Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between
healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care
needs for specialized patient groups.
· Manages Swan-Ganz, arterial, and CVP lines and applies appropriate
intervention as needed.
· ​Effectively manages ventilators, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Collaborates with respiratory therapy practitioners and physicians in the care
of intubated patients. Demonstrates knowledge of weaning parameters.
· ​Applies best practices to the care of sedated patients, minimizing the
potential for injury. ​Monitors cardiac rhythm. Interprets data, identifies
issues, and applies appropriate interventions.
· ​Provides care for the immediate post-operative patient. ​Provides care for
the potential and/or organ/tissue donor patient.
· ​Shares new knowledge with peers and mentors those with less experience.
What qualifications you will need:
· Associates Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required. BSN preferred.
· One year of RN experience preferred
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment
start date
· Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment
start date
· Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in Virginia and/or has
an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
