Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Professional Development Educator enhances professional practice
and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality
educational programs and activities that promote professional aptitude for
nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff at the assigned
facility.
What you will do in this role:
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs
- Assesses patients educational needs related to diabetes management
- Provides individualized patient education related to diabetes
- Facilitates the learning process for the pediatric through adult patient population, creating a climate conducive to learning
- Collaborates with physicians to ensure optimal care of the patient with diabetes
- Provides interdisciplinary consultation on educational needs and concerns related to care of the patient with diabetes
- Evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of educational endeavors
- Identifies internal and external resources available for patients and staff
- Demonstrates expertise in the use of computer software
- Participates in committees and task forces
- Provides input into annual budget for the department
- Performs all other duties as assigned
# What qualifications you will need:
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification:
- Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Current Multi-State Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross – Healthcare Provider CPR
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification: Certified Diabetes
Educator (CDE)
Required Education or Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- One year clinical experience in an acute care setting
Preferred Education or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare
field
