Position Description

_Summary_ :

Petersburg Medical Center is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join our rehabilitation team. This full-time position entails servicing both adult and pediatric populations with a variety of medical conditions in a variety of settings, including Acute, Inpatient, Outpatient, Long Term Care and Home Health. Direct patient care includes and not limited to evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, cognitive deficits, and receptive/expressive language deficits.

_Responsibilities Include_ :

* Evaluating, treating and providing patient-centered evidence-based rehabilitation care to diagnostically diverse adult and pediatric populations in a variety of settings, including, Inpatient, Outpatient, Home Health and Long Term Care.
* Providing clinically appropriate and evidence-based speech, language and swallowing evaluations and treatment methods (including functional tasks) for aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, voice, and cognitive-linguistic disorders.
* Administering Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), completing FEES specific reports
* Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
* Presenting at medical rounds, staff and family meetings.
* Closely monitoring patients’ progress and adjusted treatments accordingly.
* Posting service charges in electronic health record system, completing documentation in a timely manner, and auditing patients’ charts in accordance with Medicare/Medicaid requirements.

_Qualifications:_

* _Education:_ Graduate of accredited Master’s or Doctorate-level program in Speech-Language Pathology
* _Work Experience:_ Greater than one year of clinical unsupervised experience preferred; for SLP CCC required, greater than one year of clinical unsupervised experience preferred.
* _Licensure / Certification:_ Must be eligible for current licensure with the Alaska State Speech-Language Pathology Board of Examiners. Must hold Certificate of Clinical Competence. BLS required upon employment. For SLP CF: must be eligible for temporary state license.

_Knowledge / Skills / Abilities_:

* Basic computer skills (i.e., Outlook, Microsoft office, medical charts)
* Ability to efficiently schedule and perform patient care independently
* Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA

_Environmental / Physical Requirements_:

* Direct patient contact, including potential exposure to chemicals, blood and/or other bodily fluids
* Standing and/or stooping, and mild-mod physical labor to complete certain tasks
* Other physical demands related to the duties of an SLP

Education & Experience Requirements:

* State of Alaska Speech Language Pathologist licensure.
* Graduate of an accredited Master’s or Doctorate-level program in Speech-Language Pathology
* Greater than one year of clinical unsupervised experience preferred; for SLP CCC required, greater than one year of clinical unsupervised experience preferred.
* This position demands rigorous attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. We are looking for a friendly, customer service oriented individual who can work well with the general public, coworkers, and professional staff.

Work Schedule:

Weekdays (8-5)

Compensation:

* Competitive salary based on experience.
* Starting at $95,992 (or $46.15 per hour) to $126,650 ($60.89 per hour).
* Relocation.
* Housing assistance for the first six months.

Compensation Range:

TBD/Negotiable
