Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Technician II is under the supervision of the physician,
operating room manager, and the assigned registered nurse. The Surgical
Technician II participates in the care of the patient by assisting the surgeon
on surgical procedures, planning the supplies and equipment for the procedure,
and maintaining the instrumentation by proper cleaning and sterilizing.
Surgical Technician II possess and apply knowledge of the surgical procedures,
is able to pass instruments, hold retractors, cut suture, and keep inventory
of sponges, needles and instruments used during the operation. He/She knows
how to operate machinery used during procedures and helps with care and
disposal of specimens removed during surgery for testing. The Surgical
Technician II is proficient in sterile technique, sterile processing,
integrity of sterile products, and proper use of instruments and equipment.
The Surgical Technician II is proficient in practicing operating room safety
and participates in creating a safe, efficient, and cost-effective experience
for the surgical patient. He/She utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and
cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. The Surgical Technician
II utilizes clinical expertise in performance of his/her duties. A Surgical
Technician II supports the mission and vision of Cache Valley Hospital, and
participates in performance improvement activities. He/She supports Cache
Valley Hospitals vision and mission of customer service and quality care.

What qualifications you will need:

#

* Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date _Required_

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or two years of surgical technologist experience _Required_
• Tech in Surgery- Certified (TS-C) or two years of experience _Required_
• High school diploma or GED _Required_
• Preferred: Surgical Technician training program education _Preferred_
