Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA),you will participat ein high-quality,
patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring
forhigh-riskpatients.You will collaborate with the patient care team and
ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizestherisk of
falls and accidental or intentional self-harm.You may alsoassistwith basic
activities of daily living.
Here is some of what you can expect from being a PSA with us:
- You wil lalways maintain a direct line of sight with patient, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
- You will accompany the patient and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
- You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.
- You willmonitorand report the patient’s physical and emotional condition.
- You will intervene as needed to prevent the patient from harming themselves or others and seek immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
- You will createclear,accuratedocumentation on patient status and activity during the shift.
- You will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- De-escalation training is required within 90 days of the hire date.
- One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
